DYMAT FRP: We’re Certified!
DYMAT® was founded in 2012 by Edward R. Fyfe, the inventor of the disc bearing and innovator of fiber-reinforced polymers with more than 40 patents in the composite strengthening field, to enhance the characteristics of materials and products through resilience, performance and sustainability. DYMAT® is a research and development company, focused on bringing innovation to infrastructure.
As certified applicators of DYMAT® FRP systems, we are excited to bring protection and restoration to infrastructure around the country and the world. FRP systems can be used for Flexural strengthening, Shear strengthening, Column confinement, and ductility improvement. FRP systems have also been successfully used for seismic upgrading of concrete structures. These applications include mitigating brittle failure mechanisms such as shear failure of unconfined beam-column joints, shear failure of beams and/or columns, and lap splice failure. FRP systems have also been to confine columns to resist buckling of longitudinal steel bars. These FRP schemes increase the global displacement and energy dissipation capacities of the concrete structure, and improve its overall behavior.
Another benefit of the DYMAT® FRP system is it’s ability to resist corrosion compared to traditional reinforcement methods. Because of this resistance, FRP systems can be utilized in almost any environment!
DYMAT® FRP systems have been successfully used to strengthen buildings, bridges, silos, tanks, tunnels, and underground pipes. The higher cost of FRP materials is offset by reduced costs of labor, use of equipment, and downtime during installation, making them more cost-effective than traditional strengthening techniques.
